The 1st Applied HoloGenomics Conference was successfully held over 3 days in Bilbao, Spain! 130 in person and 90 virtual participants took part in the first conference exploring HoloGenomic Solutions for 21st century challenges.

Organised by the University of the Basque Country on behalf of the HoloFood consortium, the conference had a dynamic line-up of world-experts, diverse themes and the latest in scientific research presented by established as well as early career researchers. The wide variety of topics covered highlighted the multi-disciplinary nature of applied hologenomics.

Stay tuned on our project youtube channel as we upload talks from the conference over the next few weeks!

Many thanks to all participants, invited speakers, poster presenters and local organisers!

    Final HoloFood training course completed

The two day training course "Organisation and utilisation of hologenomic datasets" organised by HoloFood partner EMBL-EBI took place in Bilbao, Spain. Participants learned about the generation and application of large-scale holo-omic data sets, such as those produced within the HoloFood project. The programme combined both theory and some hands on exercises as an introduction to this fast evolving field.

Course resources are available for free and online through the link below!

    Final HoloFood salmon trial complete!

In early May the HoloFood project successfully completed its final salmon trials at the LetSea A/S facilities on Dønna island, Norway!

Led by HoloFood partners Lerøy Seafood Group ASA and together with teams from the Institute of Marine Research (IMR), Norway and Center for Evolutionary Hologenomics Denmark, the aim of these final trials was to put into practice the knowledge and information gained from all previous 3 years of HoloFood research.

Testing the proposed 'HoloFood solution' within a real-life aquaculture setting will inform us how applicable this solution would be to implement outside of the controlled environment and into the real-world.

    Stay tuned for our results!

Huge congratulations to all the team members past and present who assisted and helped achieve these trials!

You can see more images from the trial in our blogpost here: https://www.holofood.eu/blogs/post/the-final-holofood-salmon-trial

Are you working in the food production sector?

We cordially invite you to participate in a survey for the HoloFood project to contribute with your opinions on the main production issues and challenges you face within your food production system.

The feedback from you, as stakeholders in the food production industry, will help maximizing implementation of HoloFood results, framing the innovation challenges and suggesting directions for the research activities, benefiting both on-going and future projects.

Be it in aquaculture, poultry or other we want to hear from you!
